Scope of Work

FNDMNTL sits between disciplined luxury and elevated streetwear. The name pares fundamental down to its structure while leaving two ideas in view: FUN and MENTAL. That tension becomes the premise of the identity: essentials shaped with precision, then loosened by curiosity, movement, and play.

Process

Mark

At the center is a spare linear monogram, paired with a widely spaced wordmark. Both live in the material world: embossed into leather and paper, stitched into knitwear, set against brushed metal, or drawn into sand. Their restraint lets texture and light take the lead, allowing recognition to come through placement, scale, and repetition rather than ornament.

The imagery stays close and tactile. Cropped silhouettes, ribbed knits, soft tailoring, woven labels, cutting, and blurred figures move the story between stillness and motion. A storefront lit from within and a hand tracing the mark at the shoreline carry the same language beyond the garment: considered, human, and quietly elemental.

System

Bone, sand, mineral grey, muted black, dark brown, and midnight blue ground the palette. Amber and ochre appear in measured bursts, bringing warmth to the system like late light moving across stone or fabric. The colors feel lived in rather than decorative.

Behaviour

Together, the identity behaves like a well-made wardrobe: calm, exact, and built around material character. It does not need to shout. Its confidence comes from proportion, touch, and the discipline to remove what is unnecessary, while leaving just enough room for play.
